Heibonsha Encyclopedia 1975 – Kohei Sugiura design / 635-page paperback with jacket, 8.38 x 11.35 inches / text is in Japanese, mostly b/w text in encyclopedia format, but there are a few color sections & fantastic fold-out diagrams by Sugiura / one used copy in Good condition (pages are clear but the cover has some dirt and there’s a musty smell)

Kōhei Sugiura (杉浦 康平, Sugiura Kōhei, b. 1932, Tokyo) is a Japanese graphic designer and researcher in Asian iconography.
Throughout his career, Sugiura has been a pioneer within the design world using a process that champions the visualization of consciousness for his unprecedented work of record jackets, posters, books, magazines, exhibition catalogues, diagrams, stamps and more. He is also active in promoting the study of traditional Asian cultures through the creation of innovative catalogue designs and the organization of exhibitions such as Mandala: now you see it, now you don’t (1980) and Flower Cosmology: Traditions in Dyeing, Weaving, and Ornaments (1992), as well as prolific research on the subject of cosmologies and mandalas.
